Chameleon Series
A sensor DMX controller that shows the state of a room through the color of light.
A sensor measures the indoor environment and controls lighting with DMX signals. The first product of the Chameleon series is co2.chameleon, which changes the color of the lighting according to CO2 concentration.
How it works
- SENSING A sensor monitors the room
- DMX OUT Outputs a DMX signal
- LIGHT Controls the lighting
DMX is a control signal used for stage and shop lighting. The sensor reading is turned directly into the color of the light.
co2.chameleon: watching the carbon dioxide that makes us drowsy
An internal CO2 sensor measures the concentration in the room and outputs a DMX signal, the control signal for lighting, according to that concentration.
At a clean 300 ppm the light is sky blue. The color changes gradually with the concentration and turns red above 1,600 ppm.
Indoor carbon dioxide is said to lead to drowsiness and to lower concentration and judgment. In experiments, work performance is reported to have dropped sharply once the concentration reached 2,500 ppm.
Connect a wall-washer light or similar to the DMX output and use it as indirect lighting, and it hints at when to ventilate without spoiling the atmosphere of the room.

Separate-sensor version
There is also a type that separates the sensor from the Chameleon Master, the heart of the system that handles DMX control. The sensor can be placed away from the master.
